Virologist / Cell-based screening (Ph.D. Level)
Job Description
RetroVirox is seeking research scientists and lab technicians with experience in molecular virology, flow-cytometry and cell-based screening assays to work on a fast-paced start-up. These scientists will work in a discovery group identifying compounds that block HIV replication through novel targets. This position is available immediately and is open only to U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents.
Responsibilities
These are hands-on position, with an estimated 90% of the time working in a BSL2/3 laboratory with infectious HIV. Duties of the successful candidates will include:
Engineer and optimize cell-based assays for screening of small molecule inhibitors
Perform screens and validate the antiviral activity of hits
Work with HIV live infectious virus and lentiviral vectors in a BSL2/3 biocontainment laboratory
Independently design, conduct experiments, and analyze critical data
Present verbal and written reports to supervisor and to funding institutions
Able to work independently with minor supervision
Requirements
4+ years industry experience (or equivalent postdoctoral experience in the academic or industrial field for scientist position)
Ph.D. in Biochemistry/Molecular Virology (applicable for scientist positions)
Strong technical skills in molecular biology and molecular virology
Experience with molecular methods to handle HIV or HCV, including techniques for virus titration and evaluation of viral infectivity
Hands-on experience with flow-cytometry instrumentation, data collection and analysis
Experience in the discovery and development of small molecule inhibitors
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment following strict milestone-driven steps
Excellent abilities to create written scientific reports and communicate results in oral presentations

Flow Cytometry Technician
Job Description
RetroVirox is seeking full or part-time technicians to assist with daily support operations of an analytical cytometer. The candidate will also assist other staff with staining procedures and analysis of data. The candidate: 1) will work with research staff to schedule and analyze samples for high-content FACS-based screening assays; 2) maintain and calibrate instruments to ensure proper operation, and; 3) establish procedures for storage and back-up of data in servers. This position is available immediately and is open only to U.S. residents (citizens and permanent residents).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or a related scientific discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and or experience
Two years of previous experience handling analytical flow-cytometers
Knowledgeable of software for analysis of flow cytometry data
Proficient with computers (Mac & PC) and the use of servers for data back-up procedures
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience with high-content screening of small-molecules is a plus
Virology experience is a plus

Job Description
RetroVirox is seeking full-time research associates with experience in molecular virology, flow cytometry and cell-based screening assays. These scientists will work in a discovery group performing screenings of small-molecule libraries and antiviral assays to identify and validate compounds. This position is open only to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents.
Responsibilities
Engineer and optimize cell-based assays for screening of small-molecule inhibitors
Perform high-volume screens and validate the antiviral activity of hits
Handle live infectious virus (HIV, HCV, Dengue, influenza) and lentiviral vectors under BSL2/3 biocontainment laboratory conditions
Present verbal and written reports
Work independently with minor supervision
Requirements
3+ years industry experience
B.S. in Biochemistry / Molecular Biology or related field
Strong technical skills in Molecular Biology and Molecular Virology
Experience handling live infectiuos viruses, including techniques for virus titration and monitoring infectivity
Hands-on experience with flow-cytometry
Experience in development of cell-based assays
Ability to work under strict deadlines in fast-paced environment
Excellent abilities to create scientific reports and make verbal communications
