In vitro assays
HCMV antiviral assays are performed in MRC5 cells with laboratory adapted and clinical isolates. Replication and infectivity assays are monitored with a variety of readouts, including ELISA based assays, beta-galactosidase or fluorescence probes, or inhibition of virus-induced cytopathic effect.
